Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

Will you assist in getting me a work permit?
Where possible, we'll always try to help you in obtaining the relevant documentation to be eligible to work in the country where the role is based. This will be discussed during the recruitment process.

Will you assist in relocation?
On occasion, we'll help with relocation, including assistance in setting up a local bank account and appropriate tax advice.

Do you recognise ex-pat status?
No - most people within Expedia are employed on local employment contracts with local benefits relevant to their specific country.

Do you employ people temporarily?
Temporary employment is subject to our business needs. Generally temporary employees are sourced via a number of recruitment agencies who we already have relationships with.

Do you offer work experience?
Yes - this is via our annual internship programme which runs for 3 months during the summer period. We advertise any opportunities in the spring each year.

Do you employ individuals via their own companies and/or umbrella companies?
No, this is something that we're unable to accommodate.

Do you have a probationary period?
Our standard probationary period is six months and all our people are required to successfully complete this.

Do you have a dress code?
Our dress code is casual, however we expect our team to look smart and dress the part when meeting partners, clients and suppliers.

What are your standard working hours?
Our working hours vary from country to country, depending on local contracts, and are usually between the hours of 9am and 6pm each day from Monday to Friday.

Will I be required to travel?
You might, depending on the role. Sometimes you will be required to travel and stay overnight subject to business needs. We encourage telephone and video conferencing between countries where it makes sense.

Will I be reimbursed for expenses?
Yes - all expenses require receipts and are subject to approval by your manager. These are reimbursed directly into your bank account.

How often will I get paid?
Salaries are paid on a monthly basis directly into your bank account. Actual pay dates vary from country to country and will be written in your employment contract.

Does Expedia encourage training and development?
We like to encourage personal and professional development where we can, so we're always into finding the right training solutions. You can expect regular performance reviews with your manager where this is discussed further. Naturally, ownership of training and development is up to you, with support, of course, from your manager.

I cannot see a job on your website that matches my skills and experience, can I submit my details speculatively?
Yes you can submit your application to the general candidate pool but you have a better chance to being considered for a role if you apply for a specific role that matches your skills and experience.

Will I receive a laptop/mobile phone?
This will depend on your role and is subject to manager approval. You'll be supplied with the appropriate equipment to perform your role.

How can I apply for a role?

What is the hiring process and how long will it take?
This all depends upon the role and business requirements. On average, you'll likely meet at least 3 people during the recruitment process and can expect at least one telephone interview. Sometimes you may need to attend overseas offices for interview(s) and we'll naturally reimburse you for the expenses. You'll also receive verbal feedback from a member of our Recruitment Team at each stage of the process.

What about my confidentiality?
We comply with local Data Protection and privacy legislation in each country we have employees.
